The club was formed in 1996 by some of the best players from Sonoma State University and Santa Rosa Junior College. From 1996-2000 the Rattlers were five time United States Amateur Football Federation Champions while going undefeated with a 55-0 record. The Rattlers were forced to shut down after the 2000 championship due to financial hardships. In 2004 the Rattlers returned with a core of players from those championship teams as well as adding quality new talent. Over the last 8 seasons the Rattlers record is 86-20. In 2008 NBR defeated the NorCal Lawmen to win the GCFL championship. In 2009 the Rattlers won the NCFL Championship and then the MLFA National Championship in Las Vegas, NV. In 2010 the Rattlers fell to the Salinas Spartans in the NCFL Championship game 13-10, played at historic Kezar Stadium. The Rattlers finished 8- 3 in 2011with an early exit of the playoffs at the hands of the Contra Costa Razorbacks (13-6). In 2012 the Rattlers came back with a vengeance, as they posted an undisputed 14-0 record on their way to winning the 7th National Championship in the team’s young history! NBR-38 PI-14. In 2014, NBR returned to the national championship stage to face the undefeated Grand Junction Gladiators. NBR claimed the FWFA Spring National Championship, NBR-35GJG-0. The 2015 season brought the first ever undefeated PCFL championship!
